Domestic Violence Classes for Victims
Our domestic violence program is 26 weeks in length. This group is designed to provide education, soft support, and empowerment to victims of domestic violence (DV). The goal of this program is to support
the victim as she learns what DV is and the concept of what a healthy relationship looks like. The primary
goal of this group, however, is for victims to transform into survivors!
Breakthrough Parenting
The parenting program is 12 weeks in length. The curriculum used is “Breakthrough Parenting” by Jayne A. Major, Ph.D. The curriculum focuses on how to raise children with love and not fear. These classes are taught by Dr. Sims – professor of Psychology in higher education, which provides more expertise on delivery and content.
Anger Management Classes
The Anger Management program is 15 weeks in length. Our curriculum is culturally sensitive. We discuss
cultural and social norms as it relates to anger. Included as part of the curriculum are:
–Childhood attribution
–Traditions
–Values
–Believe systems
–Social differences
–How anger can be used as a positive emotion
–Physical effects
–Biological facts
–Strategies to manage
–Etc…
